Spello, un borgo tra i fiori

Dopo un piacevole e rilassante soggiorno in Umbria, ho deciso di
raccontare un frammento di questa splendida regione che ancora non conoscevo, l'Umbria è affascinante per tanti motivi, per la storia e le prelibatezze culinarie e soprattutto per i paesaggi immersi nel verde e nella natura.

Dopo la bella Perugia e la storica Gubbio, ho deciso di soggiornare in una cittadina deliziosa sospesa nel tempo, Spello. Risalendo una ripida collina immersa nel verde ci si ritrova al centro di questo antico borgo che testimonia un passato ricco di storia prevalentemente di epoca romana.

Il paese è accessibile da tre porte chiamate rispettivamente: Porta Venere, Porta Urbicale, Porta Consolare. Tra i grandi tesori artistici che vengono conservati a Spello, vi sono sicuramente gli affreschi del Pinturicchio all'interno della Cappella Baglioni, nella Chiesa di S. Maria Maggiore.

Di particolare interesse storico-architettonico, è
l’area alto collinare montana che comprende due villaggi di origine medioevale: San Giovanni e Collepino. Ciò che amo di più di questo piccolo borgo è la coerenza architettonica di tutte

le case, rimaste coerenti alle strutture originarie anche nella loro ristrutturazione, tale coerenza per me è una discriminante
fondamentale e indice di qualità paesaggistica di un luogo.

Subito colpiscono le casette di pietra curate nei minimi dettagli e poi i tanti fiori che contrastano con i muri candidi di pietra.

Proprio i fiori fanno di Spello una cittadina vivace e colorata
che in occasione della festività del Corpus Domini (nona
domenica dopo la Pasqua), vengono mostrati nelle manifestazioni a tema floreale come le “Infiorate di Spello”. Durante tale evento, gli infioratori lavorano intensamente per una intera notte per realizzare tappeti e quadri floreali che tappezzano le vie del centro storico per celebrare il passaggio del Corpo di Cristo, portato in processione dal vescovo la domenica mattina. 

Si formeranno quindi dei percorsi di circa 1,5 km caratterizzati
dall’alternarsi di oltre sessanta diverse infiorate.

After a pleasant and relaxing stay in Umbria, I decided to 
tell a piece of this beautiful region that still do not know, Umbria is fascinating for many reasons, for history and culinary delights and especially for green landscapes and nature. 

After the beautiful and historic Perugia Gubbio, I decided to stay in a lovely town suspended in time, Spello. Going up a steep hill surrounded by greenery you will find yourself at the heart of this ancient village that bears witness to a rich history mainly from Roman times. 
The country has three gates respectively called: Porta Venere, Urbicale Porta, Porta Consular. Among the great artistic treasures that are kept in Spello, you are definitely the frescoes by Pinturicchio in the Baglioni Chapel in the church of S. Maria Maggiore. 
Of particular historical and architectural interest, it is 
the high hilly mountainous area which includes two villages of medieval origin: San Giovanni and Collepino. What I love most about this small village is the architectural coherence of all 
houses, remained consistent with the original structure even in their restructuring, such consistency for me is a discriminating 
fundamental index and landscape quality of a place. 
Immediately hit the stone houses with attention to detail and then the many flowers that contrast with the white walls of stone. 
Just do the flowers of a lively and colorful Spello 
that on the occasion of the feast of Corpus Christi (ninth 
Sunday after Easter), are shown in the demonstrations in floral theme as the "Infiorate of Spello". During this event, the flowers work hard for a whole night to make rugs and floral paintings that adorn the streets of Old Town to celebrate the passage of the Body of Christ, led by the bishop in procession on Sunday morning. 

It will then form the paths of about 1.5 km characterized 
alternation of over sixty different infiorate. 

If you find yourself in those parts or decide to make a trip to Umbria relaxing, nature and spirituality, you can not go through this beautiful town green.
